General Finishes
General Finishes are environmentally friendly water-based
stains.
Application instructions:
- Fill nail holes with Fix Wood Patch. Do not use plastic
wood.
- Sand specific areas with 120 sandpaper to clear
blemishes.
- After taking care of holes and blemishes, sand the entire
piece uniformly with 180-grade sandpaper. Finer sandpaper
or steel wool should not be used as they polish the
surface off too smoothly.
- Remove dust with a vacuum and tack cloth.
- Stir the stain thoroughly before beginning and
occasionally during application to ensure a uniform
color.
- Test the color on a concealed area that has been prepared
as directed to check that you have selected the proper
color.
- Apply the stain liberally, one section at a time while
keeping the surface wet with a foam brush or latex paint
applicator. If the stain is not applied liberally, an
uneven appearance may result.
- After completing each section, wipe off evenly with a
soft cloth.
- One coat is all that is required. Darker colors may be
obtained by waiting eight to 10 hours to apply a section
coat in the same manner as the first.
- Wait eight to ten hours before applying your choice of
top coat.
