Stulb paints: Williamsburg buttermilk paints
Stulb Paints produces exceptional-quality paints manufactured in the spirit of American folk art of the 18th, 19th, and
20th centuries.
Application instructions:
- Fill nail holes with Fix Wood Patch. Do not use plastic wood.
- Sand specific areas with 120 sandpaper to clear blemishes.
- After taking care of holes and blemishes, sand the entire piece uniformly with 180-grade sandpaper. Finer sandpaper or steel wool should not be used as they polish the surface off too smoothly.
- Remove dust with a vacuum and tack cloth.
- Stir the paint thoroughly before beginning and occasionally during application to ensure a uniform color.
- This product can be used with or without a primer sealer on our wood products. Without a sealer, knots in pine will bleed through in the tradition of buttermilk paints.
- If you have not provided a primer, please follow these instructions:
- Apply the first coat of paint directly to the wood surface with a quality brush.
- After it has thoroughly dried, sand the piece lightly with a 3M sanding pad or 600-grade sandpaper to smooth down the grain.
- Remove dust with a vacuum and tack cloth.
- Apply a second coat of paint and allow it to dry thoroughly before use.
- An additional top coat is not necessary.
- If you have provided a primer sealer such as BIN, please follow these instructions below:
- Apply one or two coats of primer as needed.
- Once the sealer has dried, sand the piece lightly with a 3M sanding pad or 600-grade sandpaper to smooth the surface.
- Remove dust with a vacuum and tack cloth.
- Apply two coats of paint as directed in step seven above.
- An additional top coat is not necessary.
