Mastercraft: Polyutherane gel wipe-on stains

Application instructions:

  1. Fill nail holes with Fix Wood Patch. Do not use plastic wood.
  2. Sand specific areas with 120 sandpaper to clear blemishes.
  3. After taking care of holes and blemishes, sand the entire piece uniformly with 180-grade sandpaper. Finer sandpaper or steel wool should not be used as they polish the surface off too smoothly.
  4. Remove dust with a vacuum and tack cloth.
  5. Since this product is a gel, it does not needed to be stirred, as the color will not separate.
  6. Test the color on a concealed area that has been prepared as directed to check that you have selected the proper color.
  7. Apply the stain with a lint-free soft cloth or a brush in a circular motion, one section at a time.
  8. Allow the stain to sit approximately one minute without allowing it to dry, and wipe off with a soft cloth.
  9. Repeat steps eight and nine to each section of the piece.
  10. One coat of this Mastercraft stains is generally sufficient, but, if you desire a darker tone, wait at least four hours until the first coat has dried and apply a second coat.
  11. Apply the final coat of stain to dry 12 to 24 hours before applying the top coat of your choice.
